AB-2 Butyl Sound Deadening Mat ANTI-VIBRATION 2mm Vibration Reducing AB-2 Butyl Sound Deadening Mat anti-vibration 2mm Vibration Reducing – photo 2

The latest version of the AB-2 mat is on auction!

The new AB-2 model has damping properties increased by 10% compared to the previous version!

The composition of the mixture has changed as well as the density of the damping mass. New is also the layer (embossing) of aluminium, which is soft and easy to apply. Thanks to this, it has increased resistance to cracking during installation.

The mat is made of butyl rubber produced in Europe based on Bitmat's experience in sales and installation of soundproofing materials. After many years of tests and trials, we have achieved the most flexible and stretchable alubutyl mixture on the Polish market. As a manufacturer, we continuously improve our products.

Bitmat Alubutyl is currently the best and most efficient material for car soundproofing.

AB-2 Sound Deadening Mat

Made of pure butyl with a thickness of 2 mm and low weight, it has increased density and provides the highest damping parameters at such a low mass.

It adheres perfectly and fits into hard-to-reach places such as embossed metal profiles on the floor, trunk, or bonnet, but also fits excellently on plastic door panels and is used in construction and industry.

The product is flexible and easy to install because it is made from natural origin materials — without fillers in the form of waste.

The product combines the advantages of dense and flexible butyl rubber and the properties of genuine cold-pressed aluminium.

The most commonly installed butyl mat in Poland.

Alubutyl 2 mm AB-2 Bitmat is flexible and has optimal aluminium stiffness for vibration absorption.

Flame retardant material meeting ISO3795 standard*

Features

  • High-quality cold-formed aluminium 100µ-
  • Nanopolymer technology, high stability at low and high temperatures
  • UV resistance thanks to high-quality aluminium
  • Does not contain asphalt masses, aromatic hydrocarbons, or other harmful substances
  • High butyl density

Advantages of AB-2 butyl mats by Bitmat:

  • No heating required, yet strong adhesive
  • Resistant to water, oils, and mold
  • Does not crack
  • Very good thermal insulation thanks to thick aluminium
  • Non-toxic according to ROHS — tested by DEKRA
  • High flexibility improves soundproofing effect
  • Effective reduction of rattling, buzzing, and vibrations
  • Anti-corrosive — often water penetrates under cracked bitumen mats. We recommend removing loose bitumen mats
  • Approved for use in the automotive industry
  • Large mat surface — up to 7 m (700 × 50 cm) in one piece
  • Maintains maximum parameters in a wide temperature range from -45°C to +120°C!
  • Eliminates vibrations, buzzing, and rattling and creates a noise barrier. Much more effective than bitumen mats because rubber does not change properties as bitumen (asphalt) does with temperature changes.
  • Thanks to high plasticity, the mat seals and thermally insulates through a thick 0.1 mm aluminium foil
  • Aging resistant
  • Easily stretches and forms while maintaining top damping parameters thanks to pure butyl mass. Price is comparable to bitumen mats, but damping, comfort during application, and low weight clearly outperform hard, thick, and heavy bitumen mats
  • Safe for humans and animals

Differences between bitumen and butyl mats:

  • No heating required — bitumen mats must be heated with a heat gun
  • Do not crack — bitumen mats are asphalt and can crumble and crack
  • Much greater flexibility improves soundproofing effect
  • Anti-corrosive — water often penetrates under cracked bitumen mats
  • Larger mat surface — up to 7 m (700 × 50 cm) in one piece
  • Not roofing tapes, which can only be used outdoors due to solvents used

Cars are minimally soundproofed by manufacturers, so you can significantly improve travel comfort and well-being by using butyl mat in your vehicle.

Applying the mat to a chosen car part dampens sheet metal vibrations, reducing noise in the low-frequency range, which is the hardest to eliminate. Foam soundproofing eliminates medium and high frequencies.

A properly soundproofed car provides excellent cabin insulation from outside noise and better car audio experience (stiffening body parts improves low-frequency sound propagation inside the cabin — creating better acoustic pressure).

Using AB-2/25 butyl mat and Bitmat foams (available in our other auctions) has contributed to noise reduction by several decibels, lowering noise by up to 50%!

Applications of soundproofing mats:

  • Soundproofing passenger cars, vans, and trucks
  • Industrial machines: generators, compressors, pumps, fans, and air conditioners
  • Boats and yachts
  • Engine compartments
  • PVC pipes

Bitmat mats can also be applied to plastic surfaces, thanks to self-vulcanizing properties they adhere well to any surface.

Car parts that can be soundproofed:

  • Doors: inner sheet metal and technological holes plus plastic door panels
  • Floor up to the dashboard
  • Trunk with wheel arches
  • Bonnet
  • Wheel arches from outside
  • Roof
  • Tailgate
  • Bulkhead
  • Windshield cowl

How to soundproof a car?

The best results are achieved by using alubutyl combined with rubber foams* creating a two-layer acoustic barrier against vibrations and noise.

  • First, apply AB-2 butyl mat (or AB-25 - available in our other auctions) to every metal part, shaping it to the sheet metal form
  • The second layer is waterproof rubber foam — rubber foam (available in our other auctions)

Why multiple layers?

  • The butyl mat stiffens the body, creates a noise barrier, eliminates resonance, rattling, and buzzing.
  • Rubber foam insulates against noise and high frequencies.

This combination creates the most effective soundproofing laminate!

* Photos show how foam can be applied.

Example quantities of butyl mats and rubber foams needed to soundproof a car*:

  • Front door pair: 2 m² butyl mat and 1 m² 6 mm rubber foam**
  • Rear door pair: 1.5 m² butyl mat and 1 m² 6 mm rubber foam**
  • Trunk with wheel arches: 3 m² butyl mat and 3 m² 9 mm rubber foam**
  • Floor with engine bulkhead: 3.5 m² butyl mat and 3.5 m² 9 mm rubber foam**
  • Roof: 2 m² butyl mat and 2 m² 6 mm rubber foam**

* Quantities may vary depending on vehicle type/model

**Foams available in our other auctions

Installation advice

  • Thoroughly clean the surface to be soundproofed with extraction gasoline or cleaner available in our auctions
  • Cut the butyl mat to the required size and stick it to the chosen body part
  • Roll the butyl mat thoroughly with a roller

The butyl mat must be rolled out completely and shaped to the sheet metal form.

FAQ Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Is the mat sold in small pieces?

We sell the product from a roll 50 cm wide and up to 700 cm long. Pieces are calculated by total surface area and shipped in one continuous length.

  • How much will AB-2 butyl mat soundproof my car?

By soundproofing doors, floor, wheel arches, trunk, roof, and bonnet, depending on the car model, noise can usually be reduced by 3-4 dB, which means noise reduction of over 50%.

  • What is the difference between butyl and bitumen mats?

Butyl mat is flexible and does not require heating during installation. Bitumen mat is hard and cracks easily. It requires very high temperatures exceeding 100°C for installation.

  • Why do I need to buy foam with the butyl mat?

Only the combination of butyl mat with foam creates full acoustic insulation for frequencies such as: low (rattling), medium (noise, knocking), and high (whistling).

  • What is the easiest way to cut the mat?

A sharp knife, e.g. an upholstery knife, is sufficient to cut the mat.
