Electronic TUYA WiFi Irrigation Controller – 4 Independent Zones

The smart irrigation controller enables automatic and remote garden watering management via the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app. Four independently controlled outputs allow dividing the irrigation system into separate zones and customizing the watering schedule to the needs of different garden areas.

Four Independent Watering Zones

The controller is equipped with 4 separately controlled water outputs. Each zone can operate on its own schedule, allowing one controller to manage different garden parts with varying water requirements.

For example, you can set different watering times for the lawn, flower beds, shrubs, and drip irrigation system. It is not necessary to use all four outputs – unused zones can remain inactive.

Control via Tuya Smart and Smart Life Apps

After connecting the controller with the included gateway, you can manage the irrigation system from your phone. The app allows controlling individual zones and configuring their operating times.

You can start or stop watering, change schedules, or adjust settings without direct access to the controller.

Remote control is especially useful during trips, vacations, or when the installation is located far from the house.

Sub-GHz WiFi Gateway Included

The controller does not connect directly to the home WiFi router. Communication is via the included gateway:

WiFi Router → Sub-GHz Gateway → Irrigation Controller

The gateway connects to the 2.4 GHz WiFi network and communicates with the controller using RF 433 MHz radio transmission.

In open space, the communication range between gateway and controller can reach up to 500 meters. Actual range depends on environmental conditions, obstacles, walls, and other radio interference sources.

Scheduling Programming

Each of the four zones can be configured with separate watering settings. This allows adapting the system operation to plant types and garden area characteristics.

The controller supports modes such as:

Manual – manual watering start

Timer – automatic watering according to set schedule

Spray – cyclic operation with breaks

Weather Delay – temporary suspension of scheduled watering

The Weather Delay function allows temporarily pausing the schedule, e.g., when watering is unnecessary due to weather conditions.

Manual Control Without Phone

Watering can also be started without using the app. Buttons located directly on the controller enable manual control of individual outputs.

This solution is useful during gardening work, system checks, or when a one-time water flow activation is needed.

Smart Home Integration

The device works with the TUYA ecosystem and can be integrated with Amazon Alexa and Google Home.

Basic Setup

1. Controller installation

Insert 2 new AA alkaline batteries into the controller. Install the inlet filter, then attach the device to the faucet. The controller should operate in a vertical position.

2. Gateway connection

Connect the gateway to power in a location within range of the home WiFi network and as close as possible to the controller installation site.

3. Adding the gateway to the app

Download the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app. Use a 2.4 GHz WiFi network during setup. Add the gateway following the app instructions.

4. Pairing the controller

After adding the gateway, pair the irrigation controller with it. After setup, four independent zones will be available in the app: Zone A, Zone B, Zone C, and Zone D.

5. Setting schedules

Configure separate schedules and watering durations for each zone.

Important Usage Guidelines

Installation: use the controller in the correct position according to water flow direction.

Frost protection: the device is not designed for operation at freezing temperatures. Before winter, disconnect the controller, drain water, remove batteries, and store in a dry place.

Filter: periodically check and clean the inlet filter. Accumulated debris may restrict water flow.

Batteries: use new AA alkaline batteries. Replace batteries when low power is indicated.

Cleaning: clean the housing with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not use aggressive chemicals or solvents.

Device damage: do not use the controller if the housing, connectors, or other parts affecting safe operation are damaged.

Does the controller increase water pressure?

No. The controller has no pump and does not generate pressure. It uses the pressure available in the water system.

What pressure does the device require?

Operating pressure range is 0.05 to 0.8 MPa (approx. 0.5 to 8 bar). Very low pressure may limit system performance.

Can the controller restrict water flow?

Yes. Valves, connectors, and other system components cause flow resistance. This is normal in irrigation systems.

Can the controller be powered directly from a rain barrel?

Gravity-fed systems may not provide the minimum 0.5 bar pressure. In such cases, a suitable pump may be required to ensure necessary pressure and flow.

Is the device suitable for drip irrigation?

Yes. The controller can work with drip irrigation systems if pressure and flow parameters are maintained.

Can pop-up sprinklers be used?

Yes, if the water system provides the pressure and flow required by the sprinklers. When using many sprinklers, consider the total water demand of the system.

How many sprinklers can be connected simultaneously?

There is no fixed number suitable for every system. It depends on source pressure, system flow, sprinkler specs, pipe diameter, and number of active units.

Is the WiFi gateway required?

Yes, the gateway included in the set is required for remote control via the app and smart functions. Without the gateway, only manual control directly on the device is available.

Do all four zones have to be used?

No. Each output operates independently. You can use one, two, or three zones and leave others unused. This allows easy future system expansion.
