ROMAN BLINDS - ROMAN BLINDS Roman blinds are a very interesting form of interior design. Depending on the fabric used and the sewing method, which is a leader in the production of window covering systems, they can serve as either a sheer curtain or a drape in any style. We offer you one of the most popular systems worldwide, Absolute by Coulisse COULISSE SYSTEM (rail and components). The upper aluminum rail (width 34/37mm height) in white color, equipped with spools (reels) and a chain mechanism for raising the blind. The mechanism has a brake allowing the blind to be stopped at any position. Two gear ratios are available: 1:1 and 1:4, adjusted depending on the size and weight of the blind. The chain is loop-shaped so it does not rest on the floor after raising the blind, unlike cord-operated systems. The standard chain colors are white, brown, cream, black, or transparent; for an additional charge, silver or gold metal chains can be selected. A weight is added to the chain to complete the set. ROMAN BLIND SEWING VARIANTS MODEL 1 The fabric in this model folds horizontally when raised, which then smooth out when lowered. When fully lowered, the fabric is flat (smooth). This model can be made with a frill and does not include any stiffeners. MODEL 2 In this model, the back side of the blind fabric is equipped with stiffeners. Their purpose is to stiffen the blind so the fabric always folds in an identical, regular way. This model is recommended for patterned fabrics; thanks to the sewn-in tape, the fabric pattern is preserved. MODEL 3 On the back side of the blind fabric, stiffeners are installed to stiffen the blind, ensuring the fabric always folds identically and regularly. This model is distinguished by the stiffeners being fiberglass rods 3mm in diameter inserted into fabric tunnels. In this variant, no sewn-in tape tunnels are used for inserting rods; instead, the rods are inserted into fabric darts, which can be placed on the front or back of the fabric. MODEL 4 A unique advantage of this system is the ability to create additional folds, causing the blind to "fold" along its entire height when fully lowered. The maximum width of the blind in this model is 300 cm. Due to the much greater fabric consumption, this version requires an additional 70% charge. In this model, the fabric is effectively doubled, allowing for a folded effect on the extended blind. MODEL 5 Using Softlux and Flexilux fabrics. These are special fabrics with woven-in tunnels for stiffeners. The fabric color collection for this variant is described below in the listing. The spacing between stiffeners is 20cm for Softlux and 25cm for Flexilux fabrics. Note that the maximum width of blinds made from these fabrics is approximately 180cm. MODEL 6 This type of blind is distinguished by the characteristic way the fabric rolls (folds). When extended, the blind may look like a regular curtain, but when rolled up, horizontal and vertical folds appear. This model is also more expensive and requires an additional 90% charge over basic models 1-3. ROMAN BLIND INSTALLATION OPTIONS AND MEASUREMENT METHODS Roman blinds can be hung in several ways in your interior. Below are descriptions of basic installation and measurement variants along with their advantages and disadvantages. RECESS MOUNTING This installation variant is more popular overseas than in our region. Since our window frames always open inward, mounting anything inside the recess effectively blocks the ability to open or tilt the windows. We recommend this type only if the window in the recess will never be opened or if the window is a fixed (non-opening) type. Measurement is very simple because the blind should fill the window recess; measure its width and height in several places to average the dimensions. For width, remember the blind should have at least 1-1.5cm clearance on each side for smooth operation. OUTSIDE RECESS MOUNTING This variant is definitely the one that allows for interior decoration but is also 100% practical. A Roman blind hung this way does not interfere with window or door operation (opening or tilting). BLIND WIDTH - the width of the recess plus appropriate side overlaps; there is complete freedom here, but we assume a minimum of 5cm, usually 10cm or more. BLIND HEIGHT - the height from the windowsill (or floor) to the ceiling. Of course, if the room is very tall and the height from the top edge of the recess to the ceiling is about 60-80cm (marked in black on the drawing), you do not have to make the blind that tall. You can always hang it lower; the minimum needed is at least 25-30cm, but from experience, the more, the better it looks.
