Heucheras form a low compact clump with highly decorative leaves in a wide palette of colors from light green to dark burgundy, including brown, marbled silver, or veined and spotted. Additionally, leaves can be smooth, ruffled, glossy, or matte depending on the variety.

Heuchera blooms from June to July producing delicate small flower clusters in white, cream, pink, or red colors gathered on panicle spikes growing from leaf tips with lengths from 20 to 80 cm depending on the variety.

Heucheras grow relatively slowly. Especially after harsh winters, they take a long time to recover. They grow well in partial shade (the darker the leaves, the less light the plant needs). The soil should be permeable, humus-rich. Ideally moderately moist and neutral pH. In the north-eastern regions of Poland, they should be protected from frost with bark, leaves, or horticultural fleece.

A Heuchera that grows in one place for many years and whose leaves dry out from the center should be transplanted. Old specimens are dug up in autumn or early spring, divided into smaller parts, and planted in a new location (preferably where the soil has been dug to at least 30 cm).

❤️ Sowing seeds and cultivation:

Sowing seeds year-round, place seeds in the refrigerator for 10 to 30 days to undergo stratification. Then sow seeds superficially into trays (best germination from June to July), lightly pressing so they stick to the substrate. Water the sowing and cover with perforated foil, then place the container in a bright warm place. Transplant 2 cm seedlings into separate containers. Plant ready seedlings in a permanent location from June to September.
