Fast-growing cover crop MIX seeds 5KG - mustard radish facelia

COVER CROP MIX 5kg

The key to healthy soil and higher yields!

With the increasing specialization of farms focused on cereal, corn, and root crop production, species diversity in crop rotation is decreasing. However, this diversity is crucial for maintaining soil in good condition. Cover crop mixes, also known as catch crops, allow the introduction of new plant species into crop rotation, which improves soil structure and creates favorable growth conditions for subsequent crops. Properly selected species in cover crop mixes positively affect the soil's water, mineral, and phytosanitary management.

Composition of the cover crop mix:

✅White mustard 45%.

✅Oil radish 40%.

✅Blue facelia 15%.

* Usage type: for fodder purposes.

5kg packaging - sufficient for approximately 2000m².

Benefits of using cover crop mixes:

✅ Breaking monoculture cropping – reduces the risk of soil depletion.

✅ Improving soil structure – increases permeability and aeration.

✅ Protecting soil from erosion – prevents washing and blowing away.

✅ Increasing organic matter content – enhances fertility.

✅ Improving soil biological activity – supports microorganisms and soil fauna.

✅ Reducing weed infestation – limits unwanted plant growth.

✅ Increasing water retention – soil stores water better.

✅ Limiting diseases and pests – decreases pathogen pressure.

✅ Better soil preparation for main crops – improves starting conditions.

Uses of cover crops:

✅ Green fodder for animals – an additional food source.

✅ Green manure (plowing in before winter) – enriches soil with nutrients.

✅ Mulch enabling no-till spring sowing – reduces production costs by eliminating winter plowing.

White mustard

White mustard, belonging to the cruciferous family, is characterized by low soil requirements, rapid growth, and high biomass yield. Growing mustard in cover crop mixes positively affects phytosanitary condition and soil structure, reducing disease risk. Due to its nematicidal properties, mustard reduces the number of cyst nematodes in the soil, which is especially beneficial for root crop cultivation. Cover crop mixes containing mustard can be used as green manure or green fodder for animals.

Oil radish

Oil radish, an annual plant from the cruciferous family, develops a deep taproot system reaching 120-150cm in length. This effectively loosens and aerates the soil and enriches it with organic matter. Growing oil radish reduces cyst nematode numbers in the soil by up to 60%, which positively impacts potato and beet yields.

Blue facelia

Blue facelia, belonging to the borage family, is a nectar-producing annual plant. Its deep and well-developed root system allows it to absorb nutrients from deeper soil layers. Facelia has low soil requirements and effectively shades the soil, which significantly reduces weed growth in the field. Additionally, it positively affects phosphorus availability in the soil for subsequent crops. It is especially recommended as a preceding crop before corn, cereals, vegetables, and root crops.
