RPR is a self-regenerating perennial ryegrass producing stolons. RPR is the first perennial ryegrass variety with this unique feature. RPR withstands intensive use while maintaining an attractive appearance. Being a creeping plant, RPR performs much better than traditional perennial ryegrass - it has high regenerative abilities and the highest resistance to wear: ideal for sports lawns.

Stolons are shoots growing from lateral buds at the plant base. When the lawn is damaged and space appears around RPR grass, stolons start to cover bare areas by spreading horizontally and producing roots at nodes. RPR ryegrass creates a natural network of stolons. This is why this variety is so durable against trampling. Unlike standard perennial ryegrass varieties, RPR consists of interconnected plants forming a system.

How to properly establish a lawn?

➡️ Choose the right location for the lawn

Select a flat area, avoiding slopes and uneven terrain. Check soil permeability, which is crucial for healthy grass growth.

➡️ Check irrigation options:

Determine the location of irrigation installation if planning automatic watering. Ensure easy access to water if preferring traditional watering.

➡️ Soil loosening:

Loosen the soil, remove roots, stones, and weeds. Then apply chemical weed control if necessary. After chemical treatment, allow appropriate waiting time before sowing seeds. Compact the soil using a roller or by pressing to create an even surface.

➡️ Sowing:

Choose a suitable period from March to October when soil temperature is at least 10°C. Sow seeds evenly using a cross-sowing method. Cover seeds by mixing with soil to about 1 cm depth and roll the surface.

➡️ Watering:

Water the area regularly for the first 3 weeks after sowing, especially in the morning. Gradually reduce watering as the lawn develops to encourage deeper root growth searching for water.

➡️ Lawn fertilization:

Select appropriate fertilizer depending on the season and apply every 8-12 weeks. Apply fertilizer after mowing, ensuring the grass is dry.

➡️ Mowing:

Start mowing when grass reaches about 10 cm height, leaving about 7 cm blade length. For subsequent mowings, cut no more than one-third of the grass height, depending on lawn usage intensity. Adjust mowing height as needed, maintaining grass between 3 and 6 cm.

❗️❗️ATTENTION❗️❗️

Please note that during summer months (late May to early August), grass seeds do not grow as quickly as those sown in spring or autumn. These lawns often require extra care because weeds may appear, including species not previously present in the area, e.g., lamb's quarters and crabgrass. These weeds can exploit favorable underground water conditions, growing faster than the grass.

We recommend establishing lawns in summer only if well-designed irrigation systems are in place or during rainy weather with moderate temperatures. It is also advisable to keep a sample of seeds (about a handful) from each sown batch and the bag or label, which may be helpful in case of complaints.
