✳️ HOW TO ESTABLISH A LAWN YOURSELF? ✳️

1️⃣ Remove old lawn: Destroy the existing lawn using mechanical methods (e.g. rototiller) or chemical methods (herbicides).

2️⃣ Improve soil structure: Fertilize the area with compost soil or deacidified peat to enrich the substrate with nutrients.

3️⃣ Adjust soil pH: It is recommended to apply lime to improve soil reaction – the lawn grows best on slightly acidic or neutral soil.

4️⃣ Loosen the substrate: Dig the area manually or with mechanical tools to a depth of 15-30 cm. This will aerate the soil and prepare it for seed reception.

5️⃣ Level and compact the substrate: After digging, level the area to remove any unevenness. Compact the substrate using a garden roller to create a stable surface for sowing.

6️⃣ Wait for weed germination: Leave the prepared area for about two weeks to allow weed seeds present in the soil to germinate. If there is heavy weed growth, apply a herbicide spray to minimize their occurrence in the future lawn.

The best sowing period is from early April to the end of September. Sowing rate is 1 kg of seeds per 40 m². Although the sowing period can be longer, avoid sowing at temperatures near or below 0°C, as this may affect germination.

Sowing method:

1️⃣ Loosen the soil: Before sowing, gently loosen the soil with a rake, creating furrows to sow the seeds.

2️⃣ Hand sowing (cross technique): Sow seeds in one direction, then sow again perpendicular to the first pass. This ensures even germination.

3️⃣ Alternative – use a seed spreader: You can also use a seed spreader to distribute seeds evenly.

After sowing:

• Raking: Rake the area again to lightly cover the seeds.
• Rolling: Use a garden roller to gently press the soil and ensure good seed-to-soil contact.
• Sow on moist soil: Sow seeds on moist soil to promote better germination.

✳️ After sowing, the next step is lawn care ✳️

1️⃣ Soil watering: For about 3 weeks, until germination, the soil should be frequently watered to maintain proper moisture. During dry periods, water the seeds to prevent drying out.

2️⃣ Watering during growth phase: After germination, for another 6 weeks, keep the soil moist to promote healthy grass growth. Regular watering is essential for young grass to root well and grow evenly.

✳️ When to mow for the first time? ✳️

1️⃣ First mowing: Perform the first mowing when the grass reaches 8-10 cm in height. Cut it down to about 5 cm.

2️⃣ Subsequent mowings: Mow again when the grass reaches 6-8 cm, cutting it down to 3-4 cm.

Frequent mowing ensures the best visual results and promotes healthy lawn growth.

3️⃣ Fertilizing: During periods of intensive grass growth, apply appropriate lawn fertilizers according to package instructions to support development and maintain a healthy appearance.
